Occupants’ Interaction With an Occupant Voting System for Thermal and Indoor Air Quality Feedback – Case Studies in Office Spaces

چکیده

Occupants can provide valuable feedback on the indoor environmental quality of buildings. Research occupant voting systems (OVS) has demonstrated that apps or electronic devices act as viable tools for collecting long-term from occupants. However, previous research only to a limited extent explored occupants’ interaction with OVS and impact it might have reliability collected feedback. The present paper presents three case studies applying tangible OVS, denoted TiAQ, collect thermal air (IAQ) in office spaces. main objective study was first explore TiAQ their motivation. Second, identifying whether could represent comfort discomfort environment IAQ. Thirdly, challenges related affect representativeness conducted at buildings up 7 months suitable environment. On average, one vote cast per day occupant. Additionally, buildings, 60% occupants reported interacted daily weekly when, e.g., passing device going to/from Occupants’ expectations getting “feedback feedback” need be further addressed identify ways sustain use reduce “ill-willed” interactions.

An Assessment of Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Comfort in Educational Spaces (Case Study: Girls' High Schools in Arak, Iran)

As s‌tudents spend one-third of their time at school, their health, comfort, and productivity are mos‌tly influenced by thermal condition and indoor air quality of classrooms. Regarding that manual window-opening is a common way for providing fresh air in classes and s‌tudents aren't allowed to change their uniform, position or control the windows during the lesson hours, providing thermal comf...

The Effect of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Towards Occupants’ Psychological Performance in Office Buildings

Indoor air quality (IAQ) in a building is a very important element to ensure the health and comfort level of the building occupants. This is because work productivity may be interrupted due to the polluted environmental condition and bad indoor air quality. Both factors may lead to bad health and physical condition and consequently to bad work performance. The study presents the understanding a...

Dynamic Bayesian Networks to simulate occupant behaviours in office buildings related to indoor air quality

This paper proposes a new general approach based on Bayesian networks to model the human behaviour. This approach represents human behaviour with probabilistic cause-effect relations based on knowledge, but also with conditional probabilities coming either from knowledge or deduced from observations. This approach has been applied to the co-simulation of the CO2 concentration in an office coupl...

Air Quality and Thermal Comfort in Office Buildings: Results of a Large Indoor Environmental Quality Survey

This paper presents results of over 34,000 survey responses to air quality and thermal comfort questions in 215 buildings in US, Canada, and Finland. Results show that 80% or more of the occupants expressed satisfaction with their thermal comfort in only 11% of the buildings surveyed. Air quality scores were somewhat higher, with 26% of buildings having 80% or occupant satisfaction. With respec...

Humidification and perceived indoor air quality in the office environment.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of humidification on the odour, acceptability, and stuffiness of indoor air. METHODS In a six period cross over trial at the Pasila Office Center, Helsinki, the air of two wings of the building in turn were ventilated with air of 30%-40% humidity. A third wing served as a non-humidified control area. The quality of indoor air was assessed weekly by a panel con...
